# Keyword lab concepts

> What each Keyword lab column means and how demand and change are measured.

> **Find it in** Portfolio, Keyword lab. **Last updated** 9 Oct 2026.

## Overview

Keyword lab measures market search demand, not your ad results. Every number is daily searches, read over a 7 day window and compared with the 7 days before. This page explains each column so you can read a row at a glance.

## How it works

**1. Epsilo collects search demand**

Demand comes from marketplace search, per market and per platform.

**2. It averages a 7 day window**

Each number is daily searches over the last 7 days.

**3. It compares with the window before**

The change under each number compares the last 7 days with the 7 days before.

## Use it

### Columns

| Column | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Keyword** | The search term. The line above it says how it entered Epsilo, for example **Discovered**. |
| **Market** | The country the demand is from. Keyword lab reads one market at a time. |
| **Type** | The kind of keyword, as the data source classifies it. |
| **Tag** | Group tags, such as a category. Two show inline; the rest fold into a count. |
| **Total daily searches** | Daily searches summed across the platforms you picked, with the change against the window before. |
| One column per platform | Daily searches on that platform, with the change. Where the network shares it, a **Bid** line shows the suggested bid in local currency. |

A dash means there is no number for that cell. It is never shown as zero.

### Benchmarks

Benchmarks are ranks over the whole market, worked out before any filter, so they mean the same thing whatever you look at.

* **Top demand**: the 10 most searched keywords in this market over the window.
* **Fastest growing**: the 10 keywords with the biggest rise in daily searches against the window before. A keyword needs at least 100 daily searches to count, so tiny keywords do not crowd the list.

### Footer totals

The footer under the table can total the number columns as a sum, an average or a max. The keyword column footer counts keywords.

## FAQ

> [accordion] Can I compare demand across markets?
>
> Read one market at a time. Each market is measured on its own.

> [accordion] Is the bid what I will pay?
>
> No. It is the suggested bid the network shares for that keyword. What you pay depends on your own bids and the auction.
