# Connect your first ad account

> Connect one ad account so Epsilo can read your ads and act on them.

## Overview

Epsilo works on your real ads, so the first thing it needs is one connected ad account. You sign in on the network, or paste a key for ChatGPT Ads, and Epsilo starts importing in the background.

## How it works

**1. You pick the network**

The list shows only networks you can connect yourself right now.

**2. You approve access on the network**

Epsilo sends you to the network to sign in, then brings you back. ChatGPT Ads uses an API key instead.

**3. Epsilo imports**

Recent data comes first, then up to 6 months of history. You can leave the page.

## Use it

### Connect from the setup screen

1. On **Connect your first ad account.**, open **Select a platform**.
2. Pick the network. TikTok Shop shows one row per type of access, for example ads and commerce.
3. Select **Connect**. Epsilo shows "Taking you to (network) to sign in. You will come back here."
4. Sign in with the account that owns the shop or ad account and approve access.
5. Back in Epsilo, you see **Syncing performance**. You can leave the page; the connection keeps running.

### Connect from the left menu

1. At the bottom of the left menu, select **Connect ad account**.
2. Under **Connect an ad network**, pick a network. The network opens in a new tab.
3. Approve access there and come back.

To see every network, including ones you cannot connect yourself yet, select **View all ad networks**.

### Connect ChatGPT Ads with a key

Pick ChatGPT, paste your ChatGPT Ads API key and select **Connect**. See [ChatGPT Ads](https://epsilo.ai/docs/connect/chatgpt-ads.md).

### Read the result

* **Connected, importing recent data**: the ad account is in. History is still filling in.
* **Connected, recent data is in**: recent performance has landed.
* **Completed with warnings**: the account connected, but some steps did not finish.
* **Authorization did not finish.**: you closed the network's page or declined. Select **Authorize again**.
* **We lost track of this connection. Check Ad accounts in an hour, or start a new connection.**
